Season
Pool openings and closings in St. Mary's County, MD
The cover comes off and the system starts up in spring; the water is balanced, the lines protected and the cover goes back on in the fall.
What the first warm weekend finds out
Every pool owner knows the moment. The cover comes off in spring and the water underneath is either clear and ready or the color of strong tea. Southern Maryland winters freeze often enough to crack a fitting, split a line or flood a pump housing, and none of that shows until the equipment runs and something starts dripping.
A pool that was closed carelessly pays for it on opening day. Water left standing in a pipe can freeze and split it. A pump that wasn't drained can crack its housing. A cover dragged over dirty water grows a season of algae in the dark. The pool looks the same from the deck, and then the system starts up and the damage announces itself.
We do pool openings and closings alongside repair and maintenance, so the same company that knows your equipment is the one waking it up in spring and putting it to bed in fall.

Cover off in spring, cover on in fall
In general practice, an opening goes in a rough order. The cover comes off and is cleaned and dried before it's stored. Debris is cleared from the water, and the level is brought back up. The pump, filter and heater are started, the plumbing is watched for leaks, and the water is tested and balanced until it's ready to swim in.
A closing runs the other direction. The water is balanced first, so the pool doesn't sit through winter with chemistry that stains or scales the surface. The level is lowered where it needs to be, the lines are cleared so no water is left to freeze, the equipment is drained and protected, and the cover goes on.
Both visits are really equipment inspections in disguise. Closing the pool is when a worn pump or a leaking fitting is easiest to catch, and opening it is when a winter casualty shows itself while there's still time to fix it before the season.
Why the season visits belong with the rest of the year
Openings and closings are the two bookends of a pool year, and what happens between them depends on how well they were done. A clean closing makes for an easy opening. A clear, balanced start to the season is also far easier to keep up than a pool that has to be recovered first.
If anything turns up along the way, such as a cracked fitting or a pump that won't prime, the repair work is covered by the same certified and trained specialists. Nothing has to be handed off or re-explained to a second company in the middle of May.
